The Idaho State University
Physician Assistant program currently has two faculty openings.

Both openings are in the Boise/Meridian campus and are 12-month positions. Minimum requirements for both openings are a bachelor's degree, PA, MD, DO or NP, graduate of an accredited training program specific to degree, certification specific to degree, and Idaho licensure or eligibility. Clinical Careers  -  Physician Assistant

The four District Health Boards in the Northern Region of New Zealand (Auckland District Health Board (ADHB), Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB), Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) and Northland District Health Board (NDHB)), in collaboration with the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, are proposing to undertake a pilot study of the Physician Assistant (PA) role.  Physician Assistants are not currently part of the health workforce in New Zealand

The overall purpose of the pilot will be to determine whether the PA jobs scope of practice, as practiced by PAs trained under the USA medical model and working under the delegation of a registered medical practitioner, has a role to play in the future of health services in New Zealand (NZ).  The scope of practice for PAs in New Zealand will be different and initially narrower than that in the United States, but it is expected that it will evolve during the pilot as understanding of the opportunities of the PA  role in the New Zealand setting is clarified.

As a first step, it is proposed to start with a small pilot in surgery at CMDHB in South Auckland.  The pilot will be in the department of general surgery surgery.  The proposal is to bring two USA trained PAs to NZ to work at CMDHB for a period of twelve months, commencing in 2010.

Physician Assistant in Wound Care  
  
It is Monday-Friday, 9-5. The jobs is for a Wound Healing PA. This PA job will be part of a closely linked physician/PA jobs team that provides inpatient consults, outpatient clinical services, and (to a limited degree) nursing home consults for patients with chronic wounds. The majority of the PA's time will be spent in the inpatient units doing wound consults and debridements. Experience with wound healing services and/or good soft tissue procedural skills are a plus. It is crucial that this be a team player who works well within the team, interfaces well with a large variety of colleagues, and enjoys caring for chronically ill, disabled patients and their families.

We are looking for someone who is energetic, able to work independently, enjoys coming up with new ideas, and is enthusiastic about participating in this growing service. In terms of minimum requirements, I think that to be successful in this
position the candidate would need a minimum of 2 years' experience including substantial experience in an inpatient setting.
