Seeking qualified Physician Assistant for large Cardiovascular Surgery Program.    Responsibilities include  admission histories and physicals, pre and post-operative patient management, OR duties including saphenous vein harvesting (endoscopic), discharge summaries, pre-op assessments.  Call every 5th weekend and one night weekly.  Graduate of accredited PA program, NCCPA certified.  Current SC PA License and 2 years CV Surgery experience preferred.  Position offers comprehensive benefit package.

Providence Hospital, located in downtown Columbia, is a 247-bed hospital founded in 1938 by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Augustine to minister to the community, in both body and spirit. The facility is best known for the expertise in cardiac care it provides through Providence Heart Institute, which serves as a nationally recognized referral center for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. 
Providence Heart Institute has 7 CV Surgeons, 57 Cardiologists, 4 CV Physician Assistants and 4 OR Suites dedicated to Cardiovascular procedures.  There were 1,047 open heart procedures, 3,901 Diagnostic Caths, and 2,749 Therapeutic Caths performed in 2004.
