Job Description Orthopaedic Group seeks a full-time Physician Assistant.  The position consists of one to two days in the OR and the balance in the Clinic.  This PA will work directly with and support a Total Joint Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon.  This Doctor performs minimally invasive total knee replacements, as well as the latest techniques in hip replacements.  Responsibilities include: patient evaluations and education, removing casts and pins, consultation, ordering and reviewing lab tests, writing scripts, rounds, injections and first assists.  The new PA will run their own clinic.  Call coverage is minimal.  Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified.  The group will train a new graduate!  Candidates must have ties to the Florida area and have a Florida license or have started the Florida licensing process.

The new PA will be employed in a large health care institution and will have a very strong benefits package.  The position is located in an upscale community in the Jacksonville area of Florida.  Compensation: Base salary range: $65k to $90k, plus a new incentive plan is being developed!  Benefits include paid medical, 401k, vacation, CME etc.

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following: performs H&P’s, provides pre- and post-procedural care, CMG’s, urodynamics, first or second assist in surgery, which may occur after scheduled hours, participation in rounds and the call schedule, accurate and complete charting in both the hard copy and electronic medical record, computer literacy, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, instill confidence and facilitate communication with patients.

The successful Physician Assistant candidate will require completion of a CAAHEP-approved physician assistant program, NCCPA certification or eligibility through Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine licensure.

The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

To perform, under the responsibility and supervision of the surgeon, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physician to extend his/her services through the more effective use of his/her knowledge in the sphere of decision making required to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. A major role will be as patient advocate in the medical care system, serving as confidant, advisor and liaison between patients and physicians. 
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following: 1st or 2nd assist for neurosurgeons in the pre and post operative care of patients, participation in the call schedule, computer literacy, H&P’s, execute and relay medical regimens as directed by the supervising physician and/or as described in the work agreement between the physician assistant and the supervising physician, confirm operating schedule and summarize appropriate data prior to surgery. 
Reports directly to the surgeon for all clinical related responsibilities. Reports directly to the Chief Physician Assistant, Neurosurgery or in absence, Operations Manager, Neuroscience for all non-clinical administrative responsibilities. 
The successful Physician Assistant candidate will require completion of a CAAHEP-approved physician assistant program, NCCPA certification or eligibility through Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine licensure.
