Job Description Large and well-established Orthopaedic Group seeks to add their first full-time Physician Assistant.  The new PA will support three Orthopaedic Surgeons with various subspecialty training.  The new PA will handle a large percentage of trauma cases and the balance will be general Orthopaedic cases. 

The new PA will have the following responsibilities:
+ Provide surgical first assist (not early on, but later will handle up to 30%)
+ Perform patient evaluations 
+ Casting and splints 
+ Joint aspirations and injections
+ PA will run their own clinic
+ Fracture reductions
+ Write scripts
+ Post-op follow-ups and rounding
+ Call coverage is one weekend per month and one day per week 
+ Patient education
+ Order diagnostic test and review results 
+ Clinic hours are 8:00 to 5:00 and surgery hours are 7:30 to 4:00

Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified.  Previous Orthopaedic/surgical/trauma experience is required.  The location is Kansas City, MO.  The new PA must be effective in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure and be a decision maker.  The new PA must have excellent interpersonal skills and have a great work ethic.  This cosmopolitan location offers reasonable cost of living, several universities, culture, a major airport and excellent schools.  The salary range is $90k to $100k, plus up to 10% bonus.  Additionally, there is a full benefits package provided which includes medical, dental, vacation, 401k profit sharing plan etc.  Please send your resume to the attention of Fred Perlman at:e.perlman@gte.net

Job Description Orthopaedic Surgeon seeks to add a full-time PA or NP.  The new PA/NP will work directly with a General Orthopaedic Surgeon.  The procedures performed include arthroscopic surgery, shoulder and knees, fracture care, athletic injury.  The group has Physical Therapy and X-Ray on-site.  The new PA/NP would run an Orthopaedic Clinic.  The PA/NP would work both in the OR and Clinic. 

. Responsibilities include:  H&P's, patient evaluation and education, first assist, review lab results, cortisone injections, treat basic fractures, reductions, rounds, casting and splinting within a clinic setting.  Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified and be able to work well in a fast-paced environment.  Call is two to six days per month.  Previous Orthopaedic PA/NP experience required, but will consider a new PA/NP graduate if they have prior background in any of the following areas: ATC, PT, Preceptership, Fellowship, Ortho Nurse and Surgical Tech.  Will train a bright and hard working new graduate.  The location is in a beautiful area of Las Vegas, Nevada.  The Surgeon prefers candidates that have ties to the area.  The new PA/NP can enjoy year round outdoor living, reasonable cost of living and all the amenities of a great area.

Internal Medicine Physicians Assistant Opportunity
Whidbey Island, Washington

Whidbey Island Internal Medicine, a private, fee-for-service practice has an opening for a Physicians Assistant in the summer  of 2006.  The practice is located next to Whidbey General Hospital in Coupeville on Whidbey Island in Washington's Puget Sound.

The practice is well respected in the community and essentially closed to new patients.  The new PA would be assuming a full panel of patients from a departing physician who is leaving for fellowship training.  The work is exclusively out-patient, Monday through Friday.  With rare exceptions physician support is in-office or at the hospital next door.  The patient population is perhaps a slightly younger mix than the usual internal medicine practice. Colleagues include a full time board certified internist and a part time certified physician assistant. Staff morale is high and the office atmosphere is relaxed, yet professional.  Salary is negotiable and benefits include health insurance and a retirement plan.

Whidbey Island is a beautiful semi-rural community of over 70,000 inhabitants.  Outdoor opportunities abound and Seattle is just a few hours away.  The weather is mild and drier than the rest of the Puget Sound region.  Farming, tourism, small business and the Whidbey Naval Air Station provide the economic basis for the island.
